Jane Miller
Instructor
Jane is a Licensed Exceptional Children’s K-12 Teacher who loves seeing the growth of students – emotionally, academically, and socially. A lifetime of teaching, creating, and learning from students, their parents, and her colleagues has allowed her to craft methods and refine strategies for learners of all kinds and of all ages. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology & Spanish from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio; master’s degree in special education (Learning Disabilities) from NC State University in Raleigh; and a post-graduate Ed.S. degree in Instructional Leadership focusing on the Neurobiological Influences on Learning. She is most proud of her work as the co-founder of a charter school where she taught, led the EC program, and helped families navigate the crucial high school years and beyond.
Jane is an “instructional unicorn”. She is a certified Wilson instructor and integrates Wilson &Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory methods to build phonemic awareness, decoding skills, comprehension, and fluency. As an educational liaison, she advocates for the individual needs of students and helps parents navigate the sea of laws, policies, and procedures related to special education service delivery and programming options. She has also been a K-5 math instructor through Revolution Math. In addition to learning something new every day, she loves to garden, try Pinterest projects, travel, explore, and meet new and interesting people.
“Jane has been working with my daughter for two years now. Jane reinforces positive behaviors and reduces challenging ones in a very caring and respectful manner. She also supports my daughter with her learning disabilities by revisiting school contents over and over again. My daughter absolutely loves Jane, and therapy is probably the best part of her day! Jane's work has not only boosted my daughter's confidence but also strengthened our family's ability to communicate and work together more efficiently"
